Holzworth RF Synthesizers were developed as building blocks for our Phase Noise Analyzers, which require extremely stable, high performing RF sources. The small form factor designs were originally sold into custom applications requiring tunable LOs. Through years of working closely with system providers, the designs have evolved into a broad offereing of highly reliable COTS products.

SINGLE CHANNEL & MULTI CHANNEL

Holzworth offers stand alone single channel models and fully integrated multi-channel designs. Our HSM Series, Single Channel Modules were developed intentionally for integration into the Holzworth multi-channel chassis. These designs have a small form factor with attention to the details that support ease of integration within a system. Holzworth HS9000 Series Multi-Channel Platform can be custom configured to best match an application with a focus on achieving the absolute best channel-to-channel stability and phase coherency available anywhere.

 

NON-PLL ARCHITECTURE

Holzworth synthesizers are known for a unique architecture which intentionally eliminates the PLL.  The proprietary direct-digital/direct-analog hybrid designs achieve ultra low phase noise and spectral purity performance levels that are associated with synthesizers specified for high end radar systems. The most exclusive benefits of Holzworth’s NON-PLL architecture include: best in industry phase stability, phase coherency (multiple channels) and agile switching (zero settling time: frequency changes are 100% spot on, hitting the set frequency without margin).

 

PRECISION AMPLITUDE CALIBRATION

Holzworth synthesizers have had a reputation for incredible Pout accuracy levels across the entire bandwidth. However, we have recently been pushed to revise the output power subsystem design and calibration routines to meet accuracy levels that are comparable to those of Vector Signal Generators. The result is amplitude accuracy levels that are within ±0.25dB from +10dBm to as low as -80dBm, while spanning the full bandwidth of the instrument.

 

HIGH RELIABILITY

Since inception, Holzworth synthesizers have supported systems that require 24/7 operation. System down time can be expensive as well as mission critical. The calculated MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) of Holzworth synthesizers are greater than 180,000 hours (primarily effected by the OCXO). The actual data in support of the calculated values exceeds 200,000 hours.

 

WARRANTY

Holzworth RF Synthesis products are warranted for 2 years against manufacturing defects. All product repairs and maintenance must be performed by Holzworth Instrumentation. Holzworth reserves the right to invalidate the warranty for any products that have been tampered with or used improperly.
